NEW TOPICS IN PSYCHOLOGY

OUTDOOR TRAINING

Outdoor training is an experimental training method which goes beyond instrumental ideas of learning and which no longer focuses on a person’s carrier and success but on the individual as a whole so that all his/her potentials can be realised and the person can become a social actor.

COMPETENCY MAPPING

A way to get to know ourselves through choices and changes. There are moments in life in which we need help to get to know ourselves better and make conscious decisions which will lead us towards satisfactory goals.

BURNOUT SYNDROME

One of the forms of stress which can derive from work is a special type called burnout syndrome and it is a real form of exhaustion or strain deriving from nature of certain professional jobs.

GOAL SETTING - A PLAN FOR SETTING GOALS FOR SUCCESS

Goal setting is a way to plan and develop personal goals or adapt pre-existing plans to personal needs, rhythms and commitments.

PSYCHOLOGY OF EXTREME SPORTS

Today, we know a lot about the motivational aspects which push people to practise extreme sports over other sports, the psycho-physiological processes which fuel these unconventional passions and the participants’ inaccurate psychological mechanisms of assessment. The requirements and useful habits needed, in terms of mental preparation, are also known, and all of this knowledge contributes, together with scientific knowledge, to promoting safety and preventing accidents and injuries.

ORTHOREXIA NERVOSA: OBSESSIVE SEARCH FOR HEALTHY FOODS

The obsession some people have with diets is not always focused on the amount of food consumed: sometimes the problem is the quality of the foods and some people can end up completely refusing certain foods, as is the case with people who show clear signs of orthorexia, a real obsession with eating healthily.

MOBBING: ATTACKS ON HEALTH IN THE WORKPLACE

The workplace can sometimes become an uncomfortable place where people can be violent or can harass other people (mobbing) which, in turn, discourages the victims and affects their psychological health, and mobbing can even go so far as to affect the victims’ self-esteem.

PANIC ATTACKS

A growing number of people are going through the terrible experience of panic attacks. These involve a few terrorising seconds or minutes in which the body and mind are shaken up by a sudden encounter with mankind’s deepest fears: illness, death, failure. Then there is often a clinging ‘fear of fear’ which obstructs daily life, making the most simple activities completely impossible.

BULLYING

The word bullying means behaviour between children or adolescents involving physical or psychological oppression that is carried out by one person or a group for a period of time on one or more victims.

STALKING: RECOGNISING IT AND DEFENDING YOURSELF

The term stalking refers to the social phenomenon of 'psychological persecution'. Some behaviour, like making calls, sending texts or email, surprise visits and even sending flowers or presents, can be welcomed signs of affection, however, sometimes, they can become real forms of persecution which can limit the freedom of someone’s life and violate his/her privacy, even going so far as scaring the person who is the victim of stalking.

SPATIAL BEHAVIOUR

In order to be able to feel in harmony with the others, it is a good idea to be aware of space and train your senses to recognise the needs of those around you.
